Assemblyman Hayden Spencer

Assemblyman Hayden Spencer was born in Tobago. He was educated at Goodwood Methodist Primary School and undertook his secondary school education at Harmon’s School of Seventh Day Adventist. He later entered the Police Training College where he earned a Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Police Training. He also received specialised training at the Guard and Emergency Branch of the Police Service. He acquired a Certificate in Basic Computer Literacy and is also certified in Theology.


Prior to his appointment as Assistant Secretary, Division of Agriculture, Marine Affairs, Marketing and Environment in 2013, Hayden Spencer served in the Police Service for more than 30 years.  He is serving as the area representative for Goodwood/Belle Garden from 2013 to present and he was appointed as the Secretary for Food Production, Forestry and Fisheries in 2017.  

His love for community and ancestral history, love for the people and respect for them, together with his motivation to develop his community and all of Tobago, have driven him to serve the people of this island. Hayden’s involvement in the Peoples National Movement extends to the Goodwood party group where he has served on the committee. He has been an executive member of the Goodwood Village Council, president of the Council and a former football coach of the Goodwood Unlimited Sports Club. He is the Spiritual Baptist Leader, St. Mary’s, Pembroke.
