MEMBER BIOGRAPHY

Dr.  Faith B.Yisrael (formerly Faith Brebnor), has a Bachelors degree (BSc)  in Neuroscience, and Master of Public Health (MPH) and Doctor of Public  Health (DrPH) degrees in Behavioural and Community Health Sciences.    She has extensive experience in qualitative research, policy  development, wellness related programming, health communications, and  professional writing.


She  adjunct lectured at various tertiary institutions in Tobago in the  areas of Epidemiology, Research, Medical Ethics, Medical Terminology,  Psychology, Social Science Research and a myriad of Occupational Health  and Safety and Environmental Health courses.  She is a Life Skills  facilitator and writes a weekly Health and Wellness column for the  “Newsday – Tobago” newspaper.

Dr.  B.Yisrael’s doctoral dissertation was entitled “This is Tobago” –  Social and Cultural ‘Influencers’ of HIV Infections in Tobago.”  This  body of research reviewed, using qualitative methodologies, the factors  that positively and negatively affected HIV prevention, treatment and  care in Tobago, making recommendations for improved policies,  programmes, and projects.  Her Masters thesis also involved the  evaluation of an HIV/AIDS Programme in a rural district of Tanzania  Africa, making recommendations for improving such.


Before  pursuing consulting full time, Dr. B.Yisrael was employed as the Policy  and Research Officer at the then Division of Health and Social  Services, Tobago House of Assembly.  In this capacity, she served as the  Technical Lead (and project manager) of the process that resulted in  the production of the Tobago Health Needs Assessment 2012 and the  Division of Health and Social Services Strategic Plan 2013-2018.


She  was the Tobago House of Assembly’s representative on the “Breaking the  Silence” and “Sexual and Reproductive Health Programme in Crisis and  Post Crisis Situations” projects, and the National Children’s Registry  and the National Parenting Policy Committees.  She was the United  Nations’ (PAHO, UNFPA, UNICEF, etc.) focal point for several projects  including the “Implementing Quality Care For Chronic Conditions”  project.


Dr.  B.Yisrael has extensive Research (using primarily qualitative methods),  Policy development, and Monitoring and Evaluation experience.  She has  experience in developing culturally appropriate Health and Social  Welfare programmes, to include lectures, brochures, “edu-tainment”  infomercials, and other health education products.  Her consulting  experience includes conducting the Child Protection Mapping and  Assessment for Trinidad and Tobago; and being an examiner for the  Training and Certification Program for Drug and Violence Prevention,  Treatment, and Rehabilitation (PROCCER).

Her  philanthropic work includes being the founder of Imani bet Knesset  Foundation, and organization that implemented a PEPFAR funded “Living  Positively With HIV” project, and a support group for families dealing  with fertility issues.    

Dr. B.Yisrael is also a political advocate.
